Since going online in 2014, the meal delivery service Sunbasket has become one of the most successful companies in the online meal service industry. San Francisco chef Justine Kelly founded Sunbasket following a career-making stint on the Food Network’s Iron Chef.

Menu Options

The thing that impressed us the most as we were writing this Sunbasket review is the quality of ingredients the company uses in putting together their meals. For our first Sunbasket meal, my wife and I ordered one of Sunbasket’s paleo dinner options. The delivery showed up on time, and it was there waiting for us when we got home.

The meal we ordered was a Mediterranean lemon chicken breast served with succulent baby broccoli, fresh artichokes, and olives. The portion sizes were generous without being over the top, and both meals came in at 540 calories per serving. The best part is that all of the sauces and spices came pre-prepared, and dinner was ready in 15 minutes.

Sunbasket Delivers Restaraunt-Quality Meals

Later on, in the same week, my wife and I ordered breakfast with Sunbasket. We had the prosciutto and gruyere egg bites. Sunbasket shipped our breakfast to our door in two days; Sunbasket’s master chefs made this delicious breakfast with pork, sea salt, green onions, and cage-free fresh eggs. Sunbasket developed this recipe with french artisans specializing in fine charcuterie.

Keep in mind that these are just two meals from an entire menu of fresh, healthy food. Sunbasket also has low-carb, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. If you do decide to order your family’s meals from Sunbasket, you can relax because you’re getting high-quality, nutritious food prepared with help from some of the world’s finest chefs and food artisans.

How Much Does Sunbasket Cost?

Even though Sunbasket is a bit more expensive than other meal kit apps such as HelloFresh and Blue Apron, you still get top-notch, clean ingredients at an affordable price. When we set up our Sunbasket account, we logged in and found a well-rounded menu teeming with fresh and healthy ingredients.

For a basic plan with three weekly dinners for two adults, you can expect to pay at least $75 to $100. In recent years, Sunbasket has started offering different price points for various items and other menu sections. Now, Sunbasket provides several premium add-ons that you can order with your weekly meals.

If you’re thinking about giving Sunbasket a try and you find yourself a little concerned with the higher prices, bear in mind that many of the add-ons are optional. We tried Sunbasket for three weeks while writing this Sunbasket review, and we never ordered any add-ons. Our weekly rate of $71.94 stayed the same, and we were always full.

Shipping & Delivery

The other good news in this Sunbasket review is that it has dramatically expanded its delivery area since the company went online in 2014. While Sunbasket is currently available only in the United States, the company can deliver anywhere in the U.S. except for Hawaii, Alaska, and certain parts of New Mexico, Montana, and North Dakota.

While delivery time can vary depending on your location and the meals you’ve chosen, you can schedule recurring deliveries weekly. The only requirement is to order at least two recipes per week, which is enough to feed two to four people. If you have questions about Sunbasket’s delivery options, ingredients, or meals, check their FAQ here.

Customer Support

Like everything else in this Sunbasket review, we were impressed with Sunbasket’s customer support options’ quality and breadth. If you have questions about menu options, delivery, or nutritional information, Sunbasket has live customer support available by phone or text from 6 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week. Sunbasket replies to e-mail inquiries in one business day.

Conclusion

We sincerely hope that this Sunbasket review has answered all of your questions. If you decide to give Sunbasket a try, rest assured that you’re using a high-quality, reliable meal kit service with healthy food made from clean, high-quality ingredients. Sunkist designs its meals with some of the world’s best food artisans. Give Sunbasket a try; we know your family will love it.
